My black Lab, Gracie, at the age of one and a half years to two years started exhibiting itchy skin and crusty patches that were terribly itchy. She literally was tearing herself apart. My vet here in Des Moines had done skin scrapings and multiple tests to try to diagnose her problems. After a year of not being able to figure her out we went to Iowa State Veterinary Teaching Hospital. After much testing and biopsy she was diagnosed with Zinc Responsive Dermatosis.
