Wellness Super5Mix Large Breed Puppy Formula ...
| * Wellness Large Breed Puppy has appropriate amounts of calcium and phosphorus in carefully measured levels for controlled bone development at the right pace.
* With a potential growth up to 100 times their birth weight, a large breed puppy's energy intake must be regulated to ensure consistent, steady growth. That's why this special recipe controls calories with 20% less fat than Super5Mix Just for Puppy formula.
* With more weight on larger frames, maintaining ideal body condition is a big concern. Since lean muscle is the foundation of healthy weight, this recipe has 26% protein with 4 quality animal protein sources to help develop strong, lean muscle.
* Wellness Large Breed Puppy has DHA to support brain development since smart and trainable, large breed dogs often grow up to lead and serve. To help support cognitive development vital to training, we use salmon meal and salmon oil to provide DHA, a fatty acid normally found in their mother's milk.
* Some large breeds are considered puppies for up to 24 months so they need a healthy food that tastes great day after day since they have this 50% longer growth cycle.
Wellness has a guaranteed great taste by using deboned chicken and whitefish to provide a taste that dogs love. | |

| Feeding Information
Transitioning to Wellness: It is important to slowly transition your puppy from his/her current diet as it takes a few days for the body to adapt to the new nutrient levels. To transition, gradually mix in the new food over a 5-7 day period, increasing the amount of Wellness each day, so that you are feeding 100% Wellness by day 7.
How to Feed Your Puppy: As puppies grow up they need to learn when, where and how to eat. Depending on age, puppies need to be fed at the same time and in the same place 2 - 4 times per day. Food should be removed after 20 minutes, if not eaten. In the beginning, puppy's food can be moistened with a little warm water. It is very important that your puppy not overeat, as this can lead to skeletal development issues in large breeds.
Determining Feeding Portions: Looking at the chart below, divide the total cups per day by the total number of times you feed your puppy per day to determine the portion size for each meal. Keep a clean bowl of fresh water available at all times. Wellness believes in feeding dry and wet food in combination whenever possible to help increase the level of water in your puppy's diet.
| Recommended Feeding Portions (Based on a standard 8 oz dry measuring cup) |

For dogs over 100 lbs:
Add < cup per additional 10 lbs.
For Pregnant or Nursing Dogs:
Since DHA is transferred to puppies in mother's milk, we recommend feeding this during pregnancy and nursing. During this time allow her to eat at will.
Combination Feeding
If feeding with wet food, reduce dry amount by 1/3 cup for every 6 oz of wet food.
Nutrition is only one part of the equation! Be sure to give your puppy plenty of love, plenty of exercise and see your veterinarian regularly to help ensure total wellness. |

- Wellness formulas are based on the latest advancements in natural pet nutrition as well as help from consumers, retailers, nutritionists, vets and of course, dogs!
DOGS LOVE THE TASTE! Wellness has achieved a great flavor without the use of rendered animal fat, digests, unidentified "natural flavors," salt or sugar.
WELLNESS FORMULAS ARE HIGHLY DIGESTIBLE- Digestibility refers to the extent to which an eaten nutrient is absorbed from the animals
- digestive tract. This is the amount of energy/nutrition the dog actually receives from the food he ingests. Wellness formulations provide
- substantial digestibility results. This means that dogs are absorbing nutrients from the ingredients which provides usable energy! Increased nutrient absorption also means reduced stool volume and less backyard clean-up.
COMBINED, HIGH QUALITY PROTEINS- Wellness combines real USDA grade, hormone-free, Ethoxyquin-free proteins as their 1st ingredient
- (chicken, lamb or ocean whitefish) with high-quality meals (chicken or menhaden fish) made from the same source.
A FULL RAINBOW OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES- Wellness recipes include a full rainbow of powerful natural antioxidants, vitamins and minerals as a proactive step towards help in fighting disease by encouraging overall cellular health. Wellness rainbow includes: Tomatoes, Apples, Blueberries, Carrots, Sweet Potatoes, and Spinach.
OPTIMIZED OMEGA FATTY ACID RATIOS- Nutrient-rich fats must contribute to the optimal blend of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acid ratios
- so that fats can be converted and fully utilized by the animal's body. The percentage level of Omega's is not as important as their ratio
- to each other. Wellness uses the most nutrient dense sources of fatty acids like canola oil - the richest source of essential Omega 3 & 6's and flaxseed, the richest plant source.
DHA IN PUPPY-Dietary DHA is a natural Omega 3 fatty acid essential in the development of the brain, vision and nervous system of young
- mammals. AVMA research shows "that puppies nourished with enhanced (high) levels of dietary docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) were smarter, more trainable than typical-DHA (low-DHA) nourished puppies." The DHA in the Puppy Super5Mix comes from an expensive, high quality salmon meal made from salmon located in the cold waters of the northeast. Wellness guarantees the inclusion levels in our Puppy Super5Mix at 0.13%.
SUPPLEMENTAL TAURINE IN ALL FORMULAS- Wellness recipes include guaranteed levels of Taurine as a preventative step toward optimal heart health. Recent research shows that dogs, like cats, may benefit in additional supplementation to the Taurine already found in their fresh meat.
BENEFICIAL BACTERIA IN ALL FORMULAS* -Wellness is one of the only dog foods to include beneficial bacteria in all of our formulas.
Beneficial bacteria (also known as cultures like Lactobacillus acidophilus or Bifidobacterium) naturally occur in the gut of your pet. They are called beneficial bacteria because they aid in digestion and help to inhibit the growth and activity of disease-producing organisms. The addition of these cultures to our formulas helps to keep an optimum balance and helps promote a healthy intestinal tract.
*This excludes our limited ingredient diet Fish & Sweet Potato.
BOTANICAL EXTRACTS IN ALL FORMULAS*- In addition to Garlic, Yucca Schidigera and Chicory Root Wellness also includes the valuable
- phyto-nutrients from Green Tea Extract, one of the most powerful antioxidants available.
*This excludes our limited ingredient diet Fish & Sweet Potato.
Each Ingredient in the Wellness recipes is thoughtfully chosen for its nutritional benefit, providing just what pets need for a happier,
